“Selva” is Marco Saviolo’s first classical work for harp and cello, which also features electronics and zills (finger cymbals).
Inspired both by Minimalism composers (such as Philip Glass, Arvo Pärt) and by asian traditional music, the album explores the forest of myth and human mind, blending a more contemporary western style with musical influences from China and Japan.
The geometrical cells played in repetition by the harp intermingle with the simple, meditative notes of the cello, creating cinematic atmospheres, like chapters of a journey, or steps in the forest.
